Deciding on the right urgent care facility when your child is in need is important. Here at The Pediatric Place, our Pediatricians and staff are well trained to take care of your child’s urgent care needs. We specialize in after hours care when your regular Pediatrician is unavailable.
Dr. Charelle Lockhart
Dr. Charelle Lockhart was born in the City of Nassau on the beautiful Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. Dr. Lockhart obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree with honors from the University of Western Ontario in 1998, and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from the University of the West Indies in 2003. After graduating from the University of the West Indies, Dr. Lockhart completed her internship at The Princess Margaret Hospital. It was her desire to specialize in Pediatric medicine that propelled her to complete a residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami/Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami Florida, where she was trained in the area of General Pediatrics. Today, Dr. Lockhart serves as a Pediatric Consultant at The Princess Margaret Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Room, where she is responsible for teaching and mentoring Medical Students, Interns and Residents.
Dr. Lockhart practices primary care and specializes in newborn circumcision.
Dr. Marcia Bassett
Dr. Marcia Bassett was born on the lovely island of Grand Turk, in The Turks & Caicos Islands. Dr. Bassett obtained an Associate of Science Degree in Biology and Chemistry from the College of The Bahamas. She continued her education and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery Degree from University of the West Indies. After obtaining her medical degree, Dr. Bassett completed post-graduate training in the area of General Pediatrics at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Currently Dr. Bassett serves as an Associate Lecturer at the University of the West Indies School of Clinical Medicine and Research; she also serves as a Consultant Physician at Princess Margaret Hospital, located in Nassau, The Bahamas and as a General Pediatrician. Dr. Bassett is a member of The Medical Association of The Bahamas, the local Consultant Physician Staff Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Valencia Johnson
Dr. Johnson was born in Nassau and attended Queens College from the Early Learning Center to High School Graduation. It was there that she realized that she wanted to be a Pediatrician. Dr. Johnson went on to the University of the West Indies, Mt. Hope Campus, in Trinidad to obtain a MBBS and further, obtained her DM degree in Pediatrics through the Bahamas campus of the University of the West Indies associated with Mona in Jamaica. Dr. Johnson has a special interest in nutrition and as such, is a part of the Healthy Lifestyles team of the Bahamas. The team is challenged with decreasing the prevalence of childhood obesity in the Bahamas. She is currently employed as a Senior Medical Officer in the Department of Public Health. She is an Associate lecturer of The University of the West Indies and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
